Security Doors
Our security products are designed to meet tough conditions and offer strength and durability while remaining visually appealing. Diamond grille and mesh systems give protection and peace of mind, and SecureView steel mesh gives ultimate protection without compromising your view.
Fresh Air With the House Locked
A security door is a second door, hinged or sliding, that sits in front of the main door in its own aluminium frame. Leave the main door open on a warm evening and the security door keeps the house secure while the breeze comes through. On a hot Auckland summer night it is the difference between a stuffy house and a comfortable one, and for a front door it means you can see who is there before you open up. Fitted over a sliding door it runs on its own track; over a hinge door or entrance door it swings on its own hinges.
Three Levels of Protection
- Diamond grille. The familiar welded aluminium grille in a diamond pattern, durable, high-strength and the most economical. Good insect screening behind it.
- Mesh. A finer aluminium mesh with a cleaner look that still keeps insects out and adds a layer of security.
- SecureView. A stainless steel mesh under tension in a reinforced frame. It resists cutting and impact, and because the mesh is fine and dark it is almost invisible from inside, so you keep the view. This is the one we recommend for a front door or anywhere security is the main reason for the door.
Built to Match
Each security door is made to the size of the opening in our Papatoetoe factory and powder coated in any of our standard Dulux colours on the colours page, so it matches the joinery or the front door. Locks are a triple-lock or a keyed deadlock with a self-closing option, and a pet door can be built in. Hinged doors can be hung to open either way; sliding doors are handed to match the main door. See the hardware page for the lock options.
Security Beyond the Door
A security door is one part of keeping a home secure, alongside the lock on the main door behind it. Consumer NZ's independent home security guide covers doors, windows, alarms and cameras, and the habits that matter as much as the hardware.
Installation
Our installers measure the existing door opening, make the security door to suit and fit it in an hour or two. It is a common add-on when we replace a sliding door or an entrance door, and a simple job on its own.

Security Door Questions
Can I see through a security door?
Through diamond grille and mesh, partly. Through SecureView stainless mesh, almost as clearly as through a flyscreen, which is why we recommend it where the view matters.
Will it keep insects out?
Yes. Mesh and SecureView doors are insect-proof in themselves, and a diamond grille door is fitted with insect screening behind the grille.
Can a security door go on a bifold?
Not practically. For a bifold door we suggest a retractable insect screen instead and rely on the bifold's own locking.
Can the colour match my front door?
Yes. The frame and grille are powder coated in the same Dulux range as the rest of the joinery.
