Aluminium Sliding and Stacker Doors
The ideal door for high-traffic openings: smooth, easy operation and panels that never intrude on a walkway. Perfect onto decks and patios where swing space rules out a hinged door, in a strong, secure and durable slimline aluminium frame.
Sliding Door or Stacker Door
A sliding door has two panels in one frame: one fixed, one that glides past it on rollers. It is the everyday door from a kitchen or lounge to the deck, and needs no swing space inside or out.
A stacker door is a sliding door with more panels. Three or four panels slide one behind another and stack behind a single fixed panel, so two-thirds or three-quarters of a wide opening opens up, with nothing projecting into the room or onto the deck. Where a bifold clears everything but leaves a stack of panels at one end, a stacker keeps the glass in the wall line, which is the better answer on a narrow balcony, beside a path, or where you want a big picture window most of the year.
Why Choose a NuStyle Slider
- Space-saving, non-intrusive design. No door swinging over furniture, pot plants or the barbecue.
- Smooth, easy operation. Heavy double-glazed panels run on quality rollers in a track designed to drain, so the door moves with one hand.
- Durable, secure aluminium. Slimline frames carry big panes, and multipoint locking holds the sash tight in the frame.
- Built-in ventilation. Low-profile handles let awning windows be built into our sliding and stacker doors above or beside the glass, for the perfect amount of air with the door closed.
- Cat and dog doors can be built into a panel, as on the Dannemora project.
Options
Every door has the option of double or single glazing. Choose Low E glass for warmth, laminated for sound, or tinted for a west-facing deck. Frames are standard or thermally broken, in any of our standard Dulux colours or an anodised finish on the colours page. Most of our sliding doors have the Yale Aria Endeavour lock, a D handle inside and a slim pull with a key cylinder outside; it and the other handles are on the hardware page, and a security door can run on a track in front of the slider so the main door can stay open with the house secure.
Flush and Level Step Tracks
Sliding doors come with a choice of track: there are flush and level step track options. Tell us about the floor inside and the deck or patio outside, and we will talk through which track suits your opening at the measure.
Replacement and New Build
A new sliding door usually replaces an old one in the same opening, and the swap is a day's work for our installers. On a new build we work from the plans; see new builds. Sliding doors in a bedroom or a lounge count as an escape route and as a means of ventilation under the Building Code, and clause G4 Ventilation sets out the opening area a habitable room needs, which we take into account when sizing the opening sash.

Sliding Door Questions
Which panel slides?
Whichever you prefer. We ask during the measure, because it depends on where the furniture sits and which way you walk out to the deck.
Can a stacker door open from the middle?
Yes. A four-panel stacker can slide two panels each way, opening the centre half of the wall with a fixed panel at each end.
How do I stop the track filling with dirt?
Vacuum the track when you wash the joinery. The track is designed to drain, so a flush with the hose is fine. See the maintenance guide.
How do I get air with the door closed?
Have an awning window built into the door, above or beside the glass, so the room airs with the door shut and locked. Sliding doors do not have restrictor stays; those are for awning windows only.
